Chico Church of Christ Mission to Kojima, Japan December 27, 2006 – February 7, 2007 Ordinary people
doing extraordinary things because of Jesus.
Eight workers:
Judy Thomson, Judy Hanson, Nancy Henderson and the Thompson family (Lyle,
Wendy, Lauren, Madeline, and Bubby) practiced English conversation with 52
people, using the Bible as a textbook; hosted out of town guests for 16
days; taught children’s Bible classes on Sundays; gave parties before Sunday
evening worship generating close friendships among students; visited
schools, a nursing home, former students, and many old friends; and made new
friends in our neighborhood. We shared 286 hours of total teaching time and
342 hours of activities with students and others
“...the people living in darkness have seen a great light…”
Matthew 4:16 Thank you for
helping us bring the light of Jesus to Japan during its biggest holiday
season! On New Year’s Day people visit a Shinto Shrine to wake up the gods
to ask for good luck. Otherwise, religion serves no real purpose.
Japanese culture continually tests the limits of materialism and amusement to give life meaning. Suicide rates among teens and businessmen are alarming. “…on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.” Matthew 4:16 ![]() Prayer needs: More help for missionaries Brent and Sandy Rogers, a Japanese family to model the Christian life, and for the Word of God to take root in students’ lives.
May the Lord bless you for your loving kindness! |
